English: Miang pla (Thai script: เมี่ยงปลา) literally means "wrapped fish". Here the leaves of the chaphlu (Thai script: ชะพลู, "Piper sarmentosum") and khana (Thai script: คะน้า, "Chinese broccoli") are used as wraps. The other ingredients are (clockwise from the top): dried shrimp, peanuts, fried fish, shallots, lemon grass, ginger, lime, carrot and chillies. The sauce shown in the middle is made from taochiao (fermented soy bean paste), palm sugar and crushed deep-fried pork skin but other accompanying sauces can be used as well. The ingredients, together with the sauce, are put inside a leaf, Which is then wrapped. This dish is often eaten as an appetizer.
